A thousand square metres of a city that hums
BeeCenter is a beekeeping and education centre in the Silosi, on the bank of the Danube. In the Honey Garden we bring together urban beekeeping, nature, education and experiences for children, adults and companies.

45bee colonies live here
5.200plants planted
1.500+children through our programmes
01What BeeCenter is
Behind the silos there was concrete. Now there is a garden.
The Honey Garden grew on the ground behind the Silosi that the GAIA Movement began returning to nature. In that new green space Dario and David Mardešić, brothers and beekeepers from Belgrade, built the apiary and the programmes that BeeCenter grew out of. Today the bees, the education and the events are all part of the same garden on the bank of the Danube.
Today there are wood-chip paths, a pallet amphitheatre, hand-painted wooden huts, a glass observation hive, the api chamber and the BeeFe bar.

02Experience BeeCenter
A suit, a hive and a tasting, in two hours
Guests put on a beekeeping suit and, with our beekeepers, step up to a hive and see it opened from close up. The glass observation hive, the api chamber and a honey tasting go with it. The programme lasts about two hours and you take part in every step.

The api chamber is a room built over live hives. You lie on the planks and, through the openings, feel the warmth, the sound and the vibration.

Team building, events and partnerships
In the Honey Garden we run team building programmes, training sessions, business events and Family Day gatherings, and with companies we also develop CSR projects and corporate gifts. Every collaboration is shaped around the company, the number of participants and the goal of the event. The garden holds up to 250 guests.

04Our largest project
The Hive of Knowledge, when nature becomes the classroom
The Hive of Knowledge brings the world of bees, of nature and of community closer to children through play and experience. We run the project with the Novak Đoković Foundation and the GAIA Movement, and more than 1,500 children from over 50 kindergartens have been through the programmes so far.
The programme is set up so that kindergartens can take part at no cost to parents, with the support of the project partners. Kindergartens join through the educational programme, and companies can support its growth.
