In the Honey Garden you can choose the full beekeeping experience, apitherapy or the family programme. The programmes differ in content, in the age they suit and in how close the contact with the bees is.

The programmes in the Honey Garden
Dive into Hive is our fullest beekeeping experience. Apitherapy is the quieter programme in the api chamber, while the family workshops bring the world of bees closer to children and parents.
02What a visit looks like
From the gate to the tasting
This is the order of the Dive into Hive experience, which lasts 2 hours. The other programmes start from the same garden and the same hives.
Arrival and meeting the bees
We start with a short introduction to the bees, the hive and the rules for staying safely near them.
The glass observation hive
We watch the colony through glass and try to spot the different roles inside the hive. No protective gear is needed for this part.
A real beekeeping suit
You are given a beekeeping suit and protective gear that goes on over your own clothes.
Opening the hive
With the beekeeper you step up to the hive and watch an open colony from close up. The beekeeper leads every step and judges the conditions for the work.
The api chamber
In the api chamber you rest on beds set above live hives, with the warmth, the sound and the vibrations coming up from them.
The tasting, and time in the garden
We close the experience with a honey tasting and time to stay in the Honey Garden.

03After the hive
When the hive closes, the garden stays
The last part of every programme is time in the garden. The pallet amphitheatre, the open-air cinema and BeeFe, our bar, are still there once the suit comes off.

Questions that actually come in
What should I wear?
The beekeeping suit, the hat and the veil are waiting here and go on over your own clothes. You wear whatever is comfortable outdoors.
The garden is an open space with a wood-chip floor, so closed shoes work better than sandals.
Do the bees sting?
A sting is possible anywhere there are bees, here included. That is why the suit goes on, and why the hive is opened by the beekeeper and not by the guest.
If you know that you are allergic to stings, tell us in your enquiry before you come.
Is it safe for children?
Children get real gear, a hat and a veil, and they approach the hive with the beekeeper.
The glass observation hive is watched without any gear, because the colony sits behind glass. Put the children’s ages in your enquiry and we agree the programme in advance.
What if it rains?
The api chamber is a timber cabin, so that part is under a roof. Opening the hive depends on the weather.
If the conditions do not allow the hive to be opened safely, we will contact you and arrange a new date or an adapted programme.
Can the experience be given as a gift?
It can. For a gift experience, send us an enquiry with the date you would like and the number of people.
