01What the Honey Garden is

A green urban oasis

The Honey Garden is a green space inside Dom kulture Silosi, on the bank of the Danube in Belgrade.

The ground here was neglected and covered in rubble, and the GAIA Movement began turning it into green space. Within that, BeeCenter developed the Honey Garden as a place with honey plants, hives, beekeeping facilities and room for education, events and time outdoors.

In the shade of tall trees, on the bank of the Danube and close to the centre of Belgrade, the garden today connects bees, nature, education and a range of programmes for the public and for companies.

03The space

What there is in the garden

The different parts of the garden can be used on their own or tied into the same programme.

Inside the api chamber: timber planks, the beds and light through the window

The api chamber

A timber cabin with beds above live hives. Through the openings in the beds you feel the warmth, the sound and the vibrations coming from the hives.

The glass observation hive

A whole colony behind glass. Guests look for the queen while the bees carry on with their work.

The pallet amphitheatre and the BeeFe bar in the garden

The pallet amphitheatre

Pallet seating turned towards the middle. This is where you listen to the beekeeper and look at a frame of comb.

BeeFe, the bar in the Honey Garden

BeeFe

BeeFe is our bar in the Honey Garden, in charge of drinks during programmes and events, and able to arrange food service and catering.

The painted huts

The wooden huts in the garden are painted by hand and have become part of the recognisable look of the place.

04Children’s birthdays

Children’s birthdays in the garden

Instead of an indoor play centre, greenery, play and a few hours outdoors. Our entertainers lead the children through games, creative tasks, work with soil and plants and green activities suited to their age.

While the children play, the parents stay in the garden and use the BeeFe bar. During a birthday the space is reserved for your guests.

06Possibilities

One place. Many possibilities.

The Honey Garden can be simply the space for your event, or part of a wider programme. With what the Silosi offer, BeeCenter activities, food, drink and production, we can tie several elements into one event.

The Honey Garden

Events for up to 250 people amid greenery and the shade of tall trees.

Conference Space

Meetings, workshops and presentations in the open air.

BeeCenter

Beekeeping workshops, education and experiences that can give your event a completely different character.

Silosi

Climbing the Silosi, indoor spaces and extra features we can build into the programme.

From a business meeting or a workshop to lunch, a beekeeping experience or an evening cocktail, we can design the programme as a whole.

07Event organisation

From the space to the complete event

Depending on the format, alongside hiring the garden we can also organise the extras: technical production, music, food and drink, beekeeping activities and a link to the other spaces of the Silosi.

  1. Music and production

A jazz or funk band, a DJ or acoustic music: our team can propose and book the performance to fit the concept and the budget of your event. When needed, we also provide the full technical production.

  2. Food and drink

The BeeFe bar stands in the garden itself, with a carefully chosen drinks list served at events. Catering to measure, from cocktail bites and buffet spreads to pass-around service, we organise with our partners at New Balkan Cuisine.

  3. Production and organisation

The different zones of the garden are adapted to the concept of the event and tied to the other spaces and activities of the Silosi.

From the space and the technical production to food, music and extra activities: the aim is that you just come, and we prepare everything else together with you.

10Friends of the Garden

The garden is not only ours

The Honey Garden began with the idea of giving one part of the city back to nature. In time a community grew around it, people who believe there should be more places like this, and for them we founded the Friends of the Honey Garden.

Members hear about events and activities first, join our actions, and help the garden grow and make more room for nature in the city. Membership is completely free.

11Event enquiry

We will suggest how the Honey Garden can look that day

A date, a headcount and an idea are enough to start. We arrange the rest together.
